Chantilly

For home shoppers looking for a vibrant lifestyle within 25 miles of the nation’s capital (not to mention proximity to Dulles International Airport), Chantilly is the place to be. With its vast positioning across two counties (Western Fairfax County as well as Loudoun), Chantilly is replete with parks, historic locations, restaurants of all varieties of food choices and even an IMAX theater for those who like things big and bold.

The name Chantilly is a unique one. It was derived from the French Chateau de Chantilly, located north of Paris. A main attraction in town is the Sully Historic Site, home of congressman Richard Bland Lee (Robert E Lee’s uncle). With Lee’s presence comes Civil War intrigue: the Battle of Chantilly took place there and Ox Hill Battlefield Park is also available to local historians.

The largest and most prominent community in Chantilly is the master planned community of South Riding with 2,100 rolling acres. Over 25,000 people call South Riding home. The amenity-rich community includes swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, athletic fields and walking trails. Three elementary schools and a new high school are all located within the community. There is something for everyone in South Riding.

Events taking place annually in Chantilly are its Farm, Bluegrass and Barbecue Festival along with a Heritage India Festival. Other things to see and do are visits to Ellanor C Lawrence Park, Flatlick Valley Stream Park and of course the Steven Udvar-Hazy Center where the National Air and Space Museum annex is housed along with the Airbus IMAX Theater.
