Lorton

For those looking for a life on the water, Lorton, VA is situated just off the Potomac River and Occoquan Bay.  It is a naturally beautiful part of Northern Virginia to raise a family. To the south is the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge where river otters, American woodcocks and ospreys can be spotted.  Lorton is perfectly situated off Rt. 95 and Rt. 1, just 19 miles from Washington, DC.  The area is served by both Amtrak and VRE train lines.  Lorton, featuring one of the finest golf courses in the Middle Atlantic in Laurel Hill, is also home to the Fairfax Yacht Club.   Lorton, with its growing population of over 20,000 residents, used to be the site for the former DC jail but has since been redeveloped into new homes and schools.
