Mount Rainier
Just over the border into Prince Georges County along Rt. 1 is the town of Mount Rainier, MD with a mix of townhomes and single-family homes, some of which date back to the late 1800s. There are plenty of shops and restaurants along Rt. 1 and in nearby Hyattsville. There’s even the Mount Rainier Nature Center and a swimming pool with affordable memberships for area residents to enjoy during the summer months.
New Carrollton – As home to roughly 15,000 residents New Carrollton, MD is a conveniently located community just inside the Capital Beltway between the Baltimore Washington Parkway and Rt. 450 (Annapolis Road). New Carrollton is about 10 miles from downtown DC and is an easy commute for those driving or taking Metrorail via the New Carrollton Metro station on the Orange Line. Most of the homes are single-family homes built in the 1950s and 1960s with a few older condo buildings sprinkled in as well.
