Point of Rocks

Point of Rocks is a quiet town located in southeastern Frederick County along Rt. 15 and the Potomac River. Similar to its neighbor to the west – Brunswick – Point of Rocks was for many years a sleepy town but has grown recently with new home construction in communities such as Canal Run. Its location between both Frederick, MD and Leesburg, VA provides for an easy commute for residents working in either locale. In addition, Point of Rocks is a stop on the Maryland Rail Commuter Train (MARC), so it’s an easy and relaxing commute for those employed in Washington, DC. There aren’t many shops and restaurants in the area except for the delicious Rocky Point Creamery providing a cold treat on a hot summer evening. Residents will head to Leesburg or Frederick for more diverse shopping and restaurants. Outdoor enthusiasts have the opportunity to enjoy the river life with easy access to the Potomac River as well as the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath – perfect for biking, hiking or running.
