Fairfax Station
Fairfax Station, VA is home to almost 20,000 residents and is located just to the east of Fairfax, VA and just west of Burke, VA about 22 miles southwest of Washington, DC. During the Civil War, Fairfax Station was an important station along the Orange and Alexandria Line. Of note, this is where Clara Barton tended to wounded Union and Confederate troops after the second battle of Bull Run. She would later go on to create the American Red Cross.
Most of the homes in Fairfax Station are large single family homes that sit on larger lots for added privacy. History buffs will enjoy the Fairfax Station Museum which includes model train displays and civil war and railroading history. For nature lovers, Fairfax Station is situated just north of the beautiful Burke Lake and the Sandy Run Regional Park.
